Meteor  was established in 2001 having been awarded Ireland's 3rd mobile licence.

Meteor  is a wholly owned subsidiary of eircom Group.

As an Irish mobile communications provider, Meteor aims to bring real competition, and its benefits, to the Irish mobile market.

Meteor has enjoyed unprecedented growth in recent years and now has over one million customers on its network and almost 20% market share (30 September 2009)

Our Network

  • Meteor's network covers over 99% of the population.
  • Coverage and quality continue to be the focus for Meteor through continual investment in the network.
  • In September 2008, Meteor switched on its 3G network and commercially launched its mobile broadband offering, Broadband to Go in March 2009. At the same time, Meteor also introduced its new high speed 14.4Mbps network as the one of most advanced networks available in Europe. Available in Pay As You Go and Bill Pay options, Broadband to Go offers customers the best value existing in the Irish mobile broadband market.
  • Initially launched in Dublin and Cork city, Meteor will deploy its high speed network to the remaining cities and major towns by the end of 2009, followed by nationwide coverage.
