Today, Thursday 4th September, Meteor will officially launch Meteor Mobile Internet; its new look mobile internet service with content specifically customized for viewing on your mobile phone. Meteor is now the first and only operator that allows you to surf the internet on your mobile at any time for just 99 cent a day, with no connection charge!
Meteor Mobile Internet showcases a vast range of services and entertainment right at your fingertips, including websites like Google, Facebook and Ebay.
Exclusive to Meteor, customers can also avail of Blizzards content available for download on Meteor Mobile Internet, including five ringtones of hits from their new album, Domino Effect!
Customers can be confident that they are getting better value with a flat rate fee of no more than 99 cent per day for Pay As You Go customers or no more than €9.99 per month if you're on Billpay.

Commenting on the launch, Meteor's Head of Online Services, Barry Maye said, "Meteor Mobile Internet is a user-friendly service giving customers straight-forward and hassle-free internet on their mobile."

"The new flat rates for browsing on Meteor Mobile Internet once again reaffirm Meteor's value promise to our customers," he added.

A survey commissioned by Meteor on the usage of mobile services, like downloads and mobile internet, reveals some interesting statistics:
• Ringtones are the most popular download, with 31% of all mobile users aged 15+ having ever downloaded a ringtone

  • Munster are the biggest ringtone down-loaders with 38% of them claiming to have downloaded a ringtone at least once

  • Google is the most popular website visited in general among mobile users with internet access, with 67% having used it in the past week. This was followed by Bebo at 35% and Yahoo at 33%
  • Dubliners are the most likely to stay in touch online via email and social networking with over 1 in 3 (36%) of mobile users in Dublin with internet access claiming to have accessed Bebo in the last week, followed by Hotmail (22%), MSN Instant Messaging (15%) and Facebook (14%)
  • Those with internet access in Connaught / Ulster and Dublin claim to use Google more than in other regions, with past week usage levels of 65% and 61% respectively. This compares with 47% in the rest of Leinster and 49% in Munster.
