THE METEOR BUSINESS AWARDS â?? CORK 2007

Winners to be officially recognised at Glamorous Awards Ceremony Tonight

The winners of the 2007 Meteor Business Awards will be officially recognised for their outstanding achievements in business at a special ceremony taking place tonight, Thursday November 22nd at the Maryborough Hotel & Spa in Cork.

Sponsored by Meteor, this is a new annual business awards programme in association with Business Munster magazine, owned by Progressive News & Media Limited. There are 25 categories in total with each one recognising outstanding achievement by Cork businesses.

There will also be an additional award for Cork Patron of the Year 2007, which is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional support and selfless dedication to the charitable causes of Cork in 2007. This year's winner is Thomas McCarthy Snr.

Each of the winners will be presented with a certificate of achievement and a custom made piece of Tipperary Crystal by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Michéal Martin TD and Fraser Heaslip of Meteor.

Fraser Heaslip, Meteor's Regional Sales Manager and a fellow member of this year's judging panel said "Meteor has a strong presence here in Cork with three stores and a regional team based in the city. As a judge I can genuinely say that the competition was extremely tough in each category but each of tonight's winners truly deserve the accolade of a Meteor Business Award for their positive contribution to business in the community" he added.

The judging panel included a host of Cork's leading business figures including William H. C. Cuddy (Former President of Cork Chamber and Partner in Cuddy & O' Leary Chartered Accountants); Fraser Heaslip (Regional Sales Manager Meteor Business); Bill Holohan (Managing Partner, Holohan Solicitors); Michael Mulcahy (Chief Executive, Progressive News & Media Limited) Mary Bernard (Maryborough Hotel & Spa) and Linda Nolan (President Cork Business Association).
