Today March 5th, Meteor officially launches its new mobile broadband offering, ‘Broadband to Go' in Cork city. Available in Pay As You Go and Bill Pay options, ‘Broadband to Go' offers customers the best value existing in the Irish mobile broadband market.

Initially available to customers in Cork city and the larger Dublin regions, the operator will deploy its high speed network to the remaining cities and major towns by the end of this year followed by nationwide coverage.

Meteor's new 14.4Mbps network is adaptable to new technology and the operator has plans to begin trialling its network to 21.1Mbps by the end of the year.

Commenting on the launch of Meteor's latest offer, Communications Minister Eamon Ryan said, "This move by Meteor to provide both bill and pre-pay options to Irish consumers is impressive. Even more impressive is the speed of the broadband service being offered.

High speeds for upload and download are of increasing importance and I commend Meteor for their progress in this area.

A recent UN report saw Ireland move up the ranks for our use of communications technologies. There is no doubt that innovative companies like Meteor have a part to play in such advances and I wish them all the best in their future endeavours."

Commenting on Meteor's new high speed mobile network Cathal Magee, eircom Group CEO said, "Broadband to Go is part of an overall €1 billion strategic investment programme within the eircom Group.
