IRISH COMIC GETS COLD RECEPTION IN THE NEW METEOR ADVERT

Meteor launch new ‘Anytime offer' Prepay advertisement campaign

Today, 29th June 2009, Meteor launches a new Pay As You Go advertising campaign titled ‘Cold Reception'.

Funny man Bernard O'Shea, whose television credits include Naked Camera, The Liffey Laugh and Just for Laughs on RTE and who currently hosts Breakfast with Bernard and Keith on radio's i105107 stars in the advert. Bernard plays a waiter who finds himself and a female colleague, actor Claire Rafferty, locked in the walk-in freezer of an empty restaurant with no means of escape except for his mobile phone. He however is "scrimping" and goes to great lengths not to make the call. The premise: if he was with Meteor he wouldn't have to scrimp because "nobody lets you say more for less."

‘Cold Reception' was directed by award-winning Lenny Abrahamson, director of popular Irish films "Adam and Paul" and "Garage" and was shot on location at a specially constructed set at Harold's Cross, Dublin. Like previous Meteor adverts those have proved a big hit with audiences, this campaign, which is a refresh of the Anytime Choice offer that featured the ‘Genie' last summer, has Meteor's typically humorous style.

Commenting on the launch of the advertising campaign, Conor Carmody, Meteor's Marketing Director, said "Meteor's ‘Anytime Choice' Pay As You Go offer gives customers the flexibility they want by allowing them to choose the best value offer for them based on personal usage habits."

"Plus, when you make the move to Meteor you will get €120 extra call credit to help reduce your mobile costs."

Anytime Choice has been a huge success with more than half of all Meteor Pay As You Go customers now benefiting from this better value tariff. Meteor was the first provider to offer both ‘Free Talk & Text' - Anytime for Life OR ‘Free Any Network Text' - Anytime for Life which has been mirrored by competitors in the industry.

The ad will feature on TV, radio, outdoor, press and online media and will run until the 2nd August 2009, highlighting Meteor's great value Pay As You Go network offer.
