Device software upgrades

Important:

  • Please ensure that you follow all instructions below precisely
  • The Meteor Broadband to go device can currently only be upgraded using a Windows Operating System (Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista)
  • Do NOT remove the Broadband to go device at ANY stage of the installation, unless specifically stated in the instructions below
  • Please note that you will not have any internet access once the upgrade begins, so it is critical that you leave this browser window open, in order to follow the instructions, or alternatively, print a copy of this page
  • If your upgrade is unsuccessful, please consult the troubleshooting guide. If you remain unsuccessful in your attempts to upgrade after consulting the troubleshooting guide, please return your device to your nearest Meteor Store, where it will be upgraded through our service centre

Step 1

Download and unzip the Upgrade Pack

  1. Right-click here and select "save target as" to download and save your Broadband To Go Upgrade Pack.
    • Upgrade pack includes a copy of your new welcome booklet, containing information relevant to the updated software
    • Once you have the upgrade pack saved to your local drive, close the Broadband to go application on your desktop
  2. To view the contents of the zip file:

    Double click on the zip file, and:

    • If you have the winzip utility application already installed on your computer, it will open the zip file (You may see a splash screen with ‘Buy Now’ & ‘Use Evaluation Version’ options - if so, select ‘Use Evaluation Version’)
    • If you do not have the winzip application installed on your computer already, a trial version can be downloaded here: http://www.winzip.com/prod_down.htm

    When you have double-clicked on the zip file and winzip has opened, you will see the following files inside the winzip window:  Broadband to go Upgrade1.exe, Broadband to go Uprgrade2.exe, and your Welcome Book.pdf file 

  3. Proceed to Step 2

Step 2

Upgrading your device

  1. Ensure that the Broadband to go device is inserted throughout the entire process
  2. Ensure that in the ‘Broadband to go’ application, the ‘Disconnect’ button has been pressed, and that the ‘Broadband to go’ application is closed
  3. Double-click the ‘Broadband to go Upgrade 1.exe’ file 
  4. Read and Accept the agreement, then click ‘Next’ 
  5. The upgrade application will search for your device 
  6. When your broadband to go device is found by the wizard, it states that the wizard is ready to update  – Do NOT tick the checkbox ‘Auto remove the device after update’- click ‘Next’, then click ‘Start’
  7. When complete, click ‘ok’, then click ‘Finish’
    Note: If the ‘Broadband to go’ application starts up again at this point, please ensure you close it, before proceeding to part (8) 
  8. Now, Double-click the ‘Broadband to go Upgrade 2.exe’
  9. Read and Accept the agreement and click ‘Next’
  10. The upgrade application will search for your device
  11. Your broadband to go device is found by the wizard – click ‘Next’, then click ‘Start’
  12. When complete, click ‘ok’, then click ‘Finish’
    Note: Allow up to three minutes for your system to complete installation, as the new software will be detected by your system, and start up automatically
  13. Your system will detect the new software and will prompt you to uninstall the previous version.
    Follow the uninstall steps and proceed through the re-install steps for the new software
