Bill Pay roaming tips

Here are some tips we have for making roaming easier for you.

Choosing a network while away – it makes a difference to the amount you pay

As soon as you arrive at your destination, your phone will automatically look for networks to use based on how strong the signal’s of other operators are. If you would like to roam using the network Meteor has an agreement with, you can select this manually. See below for instructions. (If your type of phone is not below you can find this information in the phone’s user manual). Choosing our network is free and easy and you can change whenever you want.

Find out how to choose a network

Calling back home – important to let the folks know you are ok!

Because you're on a local network, you will have to make sure that any Irish numbers have the prefix +353 before you use them plus the international dialing code for the country that you are in.

Checking your voicemail

If you want to check your voicemail, call 171 or dial your own mobile number (with the +353 in front of it) and add a 5 after the 87/86/85/83 prefix. So, if your mobile number is normally 085 1234567, dial international dialling code +353 85 5 1234567. You will hear your greeting - interrupt this by pressing the # key.

Roaming charges

Charges for roaming calls will appear on your regular bill, although sometimes they can take some time to process and appear.

Control your data costs when you’re abroad

We have introduced an optional spend limit for accessing the internet when abroad. Find out more.

And finally, it happens to us all

Don't forget to bring your charger and a plug adapter with you.
