Dublin, Wednesday 16th November: Meteor and Choice Music Prize are today announcing details of an intimate performance featuring both Lisa Hannigan and James Vincent McMorrow. The Meteor Choice Music Prize event will take place on Thursday, 8th December in the Button Factory, Dublin.

This is the second Meteor Choice Music Prize Presents gig which celebrates the best of Irish music and features the very best of home grown talent.  Snow Patrol headlined the first event with a truly magnificent performance in the Button Factory at the beginning of November. The exclusive events form part of the coveted Meteor Choice Music Prize and will culminate with the awards in March.

Taking place on Thursday, 8th December in the Button Factory, critically acclaimed musician, Lisa Hannigan will perform a number of songs from her both her hit first album and second album, ‘Passenger’. Lisa’s music has been celebrated and praised, both in Ireland and abroad, she received a Choice Music Prize nomination for her debut solo album, titled Sea Sew.

Dublin born James Vincent McMorrow will also take to the stage in the Button Factory. James will perform songs from his Choice Music Prize nominated debut record, Early in the Morning. Described as “a captivating debut" by Uncut and “sounds both fresh and as if they’ve been in your head forever…McMorrow’s debut deserves its success”, by Q, the album is a stunning collection of songs recorded over 5 months in an isolated house by the sea.

The Meteor Choice Music Prize was established to highlight and promote the work of Irish musicians.  It is unique in that the judging process focuses simply and solely on the music, as opposed to sales or airplay.  The Meteor Choice Music Prize – Irish Album of the Year will be selected by well-known music industry experts, with the winner receiving €10,000.  The short list of nominees will be announced on Wednesday, 11th January 2012. 

The winning album will be announced at a live event on Thursday, 8th March, 2012.   The event will be broadcast live in a special Paul McLoone Show on Today FM with exclusive behind the scenes content and highlights of the gig through the operator’s Facebook page,
