We've got some exciting news... Meteor is becoming eir

As you may already know, we've been part of the eir family since 2005 and in September we will be changing our name to eir. You'll still get all the same great benefits and service you've always had with us, while enjoying even more excitng possibilities with eir.

The change will be seamless

The only change you'll see is that the little network connection symbol on your mobile will change from 'Meteor' to 'eir'. That's pretty much it.

MyMeteor

You can continue to use your MyMeteor account as normal until September when we'll automatically switch you over to my eir. Your log in details will all stay the same as your current MyMeteor details, so there is no need for you to do anything. Easy!
Not registered for MyMeteor? No problem! You can still register now and in September we'll switch you over to my eir.

New my eir app

You'll be able to manage your account on the go with the my eir app. You can do lots on the app, like pay your bill at any time, track your usage, send 400 free text messages and so much more. We'll pop you a message in September to let you know when you should download the app.

Bill Pay

If you are a bill pay customer we'll continue to send you your bill on the same day as you currently receive it. It will have all the same information as your Meteor bill, the only difference is that the bill will be eir branded.

If you pay by direct debit, your monthly payment will continue as normal and over time you'll see the name beside the payments change from 'Meteor' to 'eir' on your bank statement. There's no need for you to make any changes to your direct debit, we'll do all that!

Top ups


For prepay customers, you'll continue to top up your account in exactly the same way. All you need to do is ask for 'eir mobile top up' when you're buying credit. But not until September, so no need to do anything just yet!

Are there any changes to my billpay contract, offer or payment method?

No. There is no change to your contract, and you’ll still get all the same benefits that you do currently, everything is exactly the same – only the brand name will change. We will continue to send you your bill on the same day as you currently receive it. It will have all the same information as your Meteor bill, the only difference is that the bill will be eir branded.

Are there any changes to my prepay plan or top up balance?

No. If you are a Meteor prepay customer any credit balance that you have will stay the same once the change has happened. There will be no change to your current Meteor prepay plan so you continue to keep your current plan allowances and you’ll still get all the same benefits that you do currently, everything is exactly the same - only the brand name will change.

When is Meteor rebranding to eir?

The change will take place in September, you’ll see the network displayed on your mobile will change from Meteor to eir. There is nothing for you to do right now, you can continue using your mobile as you always have. We’ll be in touch again when the changes have taken place.

What will happen to the My Meteor online service and My Meteor App?

MyMeteor will automatically become my eir. All of your login details will stay the same so you’ll continue to be able to do all the things that you do currently like checking your balance, sending webtexts and viewing your bills online. You can continue to use MyMeteor until the rebrand of MyMeteor to my eir happens in September.
You will need to download the new my eir App once the change happens in September and we’ll be in touch with all the details closer to the time. For now you can continue to use MyMeteor as usual.

Does eir mobile have the same coverage as Meteor?

Yes. You will continue to get the same great coverage with eir mobile. Both brands use the same network, so you will continue to experience powerful mobile coverage in every town, city and county across Ireland with 99% 3G coverage and 95% 4G.

Why is Meteor rebranding to eir?

By focusing on a single mobile brand and reducing the duplication of supporting two brands, we can offer better value and increased innovation.
